Andrew Ceccon

Alex Saltz

Howard Freund

Very Very What?

Pleasantly eclectic

Playing their own blend of music they have dubbed "pop lounge."

The songs are well-crafted arrangements that exhibit a wicked mix of sophistication and whimsy. Infectious hooks sit comfortably on a bed of rockabilly, latin, jazz, country and surf.

New Release: Rec Room Anthems

Very Very has just released its second album called Rec Room Anthems.
Its 15 songs harken back to the singer/songwriter works
of the 60's and 70's…the ones where the lyrics and music mattered.

Very Very Who?

Singer, songwriter, guitarist Andrew Ceccon fronts the band. Working by day as an executive in an internet company, he spends his evenings in NYC on guitar and piano (and even the didjeridoo) cooking up songs incessantly.

Andrew's brother-in-law, Alex Saltz, plays percussion. His "eagle" ear for musical detail makes him a superb musical engineer, both in the recording studio and in his home CD-mastering studio,
APS Mastering
.

Howard Freund blows his heart out on the sax with Very Very. He is a high school music teacher, a founding member of the band Rooftop Cowboys and an inspiring musician.

Manning the 4-string, Ed Iglewski (not pictured) lends his flawless bass technique and intelligent sensibilities to Very Very's quirky arrangements. Ed's a veteran studio musician and has performed with dozens of bands of myriad genres.

Very Very Where?

The band performs in various New York clubs. To be placed on their mailing list, send an email to: veryvery@nyc.rr.com

Interview by Kelly Kuvo

1. How would you describe your music to an 85 year-old man sitting on a bench in the park that's never heard your songs before?

They're a nice bunch of boys with clean, catchy lyrics. It's like hearing Les Paul on guitar, Johnny Cash at the microphone, Gene Krupa on the drums and Bob Dylan writing lyrics. What's that? You never heard of Dylan?

2. Some of your songs remind me of Surf Music minus the harmony vocals. Are you inspired by Surf bands?

We rarely walk into the ocean beyond our knees, except when we have to pee. We draw our sonic inspiration from the likes of Esquivel, Jobim and Neil Young. Our lyrical heroes are an eclectic bunch including Jacques Brel, Dave Frishberg, Willie Nelson and Nilsson. I forgot to mention Mexican mariachi music, and the real Van Halen.

3. Do people dance at your live shows?
Do you encourage them to?

They used to dance until the clubs put up signs that said, "Don't Dance." Now they sway their hips subtly and we like to pretend that they mouth every word to every song.

4. Will you all be in bands until the day you die?
How dedicated are you to playing music?

Yes. Music is a narcotic from which one cannot be detoxed. The songwriting process never ends, even when you aren't writing songs. The songs are actually writing themselves and just waiting for human intervention to be materialized. The discovery of great cover tunes doesn't end either. Each year we get older, our appreciation for older songs grows. By the time we are in our eighties, we'll be singing Civil War tunes.
