"Cuban Operator Please..."

(Press Release)
The Hudson Exploited Theater Company is pleased to announce the world premiere of Cuban Operator Please... a play in one act by Cuban Playwright Adrian Rodriguez. The Play's focus is on Abel, the twenty-five year old son of Cuban parents. The action takes place during the final hours of his father's life, during which the young man becomes extraordinarily introspective about his deep, though frustrating emotional connection to Cuba, his experience as an exile, and its implications on his family. He struggles with the power and mystery of the influence Cuba has on his family - especially his dying father.

Arian Blanco directs this poignant story of a young man's examination of himself, "The playwright does an exceptional job of balancing this extremely personal story with the universal elements of family, identity, and mourning". Through a series of monologues and flashbacks, we come to know the pain that growing up in exile has brought to his life and the gulf that it has created".

Cuban Operator Please... is the first play by Adrian Rodriguez, an emerging playwright who was born and raised in Union City, New Jersey (a city with the 3rd largest Cuban population in the world.)

Written 40% in Spanish, this three-character play features an extremely talented New York City based cast of bilingual actors of Cuban descent.

..
The Cast: José Antonio, Omar Hernandez & Mercy Valladares

Cuban Operator please was performed at Charas / El Bohio Studio
during The New York International Fringe Festival.
