Silver Lining
I didn't know
what to say
to myself the
day you
slipped away,
My first
reaction, of
course, was
to say, "Why
can't you stay?"
I loved you so
dear, and
believe me I
still do,
And it's
proven by all
we've been
through.
Although
you're not
here today,
you're still so
dear to me,
For in the
stars, moon,
and clouds, it
is your face I
see.
I know you
will always
be in my heart
and on my
mind,
And of
course the
memory of
seeing you
that last time.
I look outside
now and see
all of the
clouds, and
remember
what you
once told me,
"Every cloud
has a silver
lining, look
for it, and
there I will
be."
I saw the
silver lining
today, and
right then
thought of
you,
I love you
and
I always will,
and I know
that you love
me too.

Goodbye
Close the door behind
you, give away the key,
No more times to be
had here, nothing more
to see.
The walls are bare and
empty, the room I used
to reside in, cold and
dark,
But somehow I
remember the warmth
that now is stark.
I can still see the
smiles, the happiness
spent here,
It wasn't much time at
all, merely two years.
The floors have
no furniture,
the halls no
decoration,
I will miss my home
here, the only one I
ever truly enjoyed, let
this be my declaration.
Does it hurt to leave it
behind? More than it
has before.
So when you leave our
home behind, don't
forget to close the door.

Night
The night stars
shine upon your
face,
Retrieving your
utmost elegance
and grace.
But what I find
most in this lovely
darkness
Is merely an urge I
cannot suppress.
I find myself in a
world full of you,
Even an angel
couldn't get a
better view.
What I've seen
cannot compare to
what I see in your
light, And that is all
ode... to night.

The Laughing Hours
The day we stumbled upon our fate,
On that ever so fortunate date
Friendship struck us blindsidedly
Like a wind chime sound over the highway.
What a day to dream of days to be had,
Memories of times ahead.
The laughing hours of a cool breeze blows,
Our betterment in the future?
Who knows.
Where the road winds through the day,
A cobblestone skipped along the way.
Truth is we will better each other,
Friendship like ours?... no other.
Such a clean thing as friends at first sight?
Not believed by me in day or in night.
A daydream of what our lives should be,
A fickle, blurry image of our futures we see.
Lives like ours always blend in the end,
A fairy-tale story of a fair-weather friend.
Who knew we'd end up where we are,
Do wishes come true
when you wish upon a star?
We started out simple,
now we're complicated,
Started out bright, now we're faded.
Have you found that light in me?
That special light only true friends see.
I can see that light in you,
Now I know as a friend, I am true.
Complications have been had,
Times have been good,
times have been bad.
The laughing hours will be back again,
Down the hall and around the bend.
Feel the cool breeze off the water,
climb a tree so high, Anything is possible,
the limit is merely the sky.
We are wishers, thinkers, philosophers
and more, Wondering what possibly
this insane life is for.
There is a certain time for friends,
in fact every time of day Friends,
everlasting friends show all of us the way.
The truth of a meloncholy man left
drifting in the ocean,
A time of day, or perhaps night,
spent going through the motions.
Seek and you will find the line,
Divide ours into yours and mine.
Laugh whenever life allows you,
make your face bright,
And when you lose yourself out there,
hang on with all your might.
This has been a story,
which will soon be sent off to sea,
But what it is first and foremost,
A story of Emily and me.
